Dr. Princess C.H.E’s Visit to see the King of Ondo State with Governor Mimiko
A while back, I was hosted by #Governor Olusegun Mimiko and his lovely wife- Mrs. Mimiko, in Ondo Kingdom. It was an impromptu visit but well worth it. Even though I was meeting with Governor Mimiko and his wife for the first time, it felt like I had known the family for so long. Mrs. Mimiko prepared delicious meals and ensured that I was fed through the journey. We dined and chatted through the night.
I was in Nigeria on an assignment with the wife of the former Governor of River State- Dame Judith Amaechi, whom I love and honor so dearly for her and her husband’s consistent remarkable works for Nigeria.
Governor Mimiko was a governor of Ondo State for eight years. A very relatable doctor whose service to the people of Ondo is incomparable. I recall how every person we came across would wave at his car and chant his name as we drove around the city. I sat at the back seat as he drove and admired how the people operated. The people of Ondo Kingdom love him.
Governor Mimiko orchestrated a quick meeting with the King of Ondo, known as The Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Victor Kiladejo,
to ensure that I met with the King before my departure. I was scheduled to be in Ondo Kingdom for only a day.
For those who may not know, there are 36 states in Nigeria. Ondo State is one out of the 36 states.
The King of Ondo and his wife (the Olori) were receptive and welcomed me with open arms. I felt loved all the way.
There are great leaders who lead authentically in Nigeria. You have to pay attention to their leadership style and how they serve the people.
It is also interesting to note that the first king of Ondo State (Oba Pupupu) was female.
